DRAMAWE’EN Coalition Social

pumpkinVCDS kindly hosts this fall’s U of T Drama Coalition Social! Which is not at all suggestively placed near Hallowe’ekend. Costumes are welcome, as long as you ask your stage manager permission.

 

 

Date: Friday, October 24, at 9:00 pm

Location: The Cat’s Eye Pub & Student Lounge

Admission: $3, for entry and snacks!
This is an all ages with a wristband policy.

Dance, network, and bask in the love of your friends in the THEATAH.

The Cat’s Eye Bar is cash only, but there’s an ATM in the building. The Goldring Student Centre is right above Museum Station, at Charles St. W and University.

Description: The UC Follies Theatre Company is currently looking directors, choreographers, music directors, producers, designers, visionaries etc. who would like to propose a production for their Summer Festival Season (May-September) and the Mainstage Theatre Season (September-April)

TO SUBMIT :
Please send the following information to ucfollies.producer@gmail.com by MONDAY, MARCH 24 @ 11:59 pm. When submitting please include the TITLE OF YOUR SHOW and/or THE POSITION YOU WISH TO HOLD ON YOUR TEAM in the subject line of the e-mail.

*You may submit more than one proposal.
**You may submit as a team (recommended, but not required).
***You may submit as a floating production team member only (i.e. you would be interested in joining any production team), in which case you only need to provide the Applicant Information.
****All positions are NON-PAYING, NON-UNION.

1) APPLICANT INFORMATION
a) Name
b) Phone number
c) E-mail address
d) Artistic Resume
e) Position(s) you would like to hold for your production (i.e. Director, Producer, Choreographer, Music Director, Designer, etc.)
f) Resources you would be able to use (i.e. rehearsal space, potential production team members, musicians, marketing resources, etc.)
g) Names of other potential production team members
h) Let us know if you would be willing to join another production team in which capacity

2) SUBMISSION INFORMATION
a) Title of the Show
b) Writer/Composer/Lyricist of the Show
c) Name of company holding the rights with their contact information (if applicable)*
d) Approximate length of the show (i.e. one act, two act, etc.)
e) Why you are proposing this show
f) Why is this a good choice for a UofT audience (i.e. students, faculty, staff, the UofT community)
g) Your vision for the show – please include your artistic vision as well as a brief description for set, costumes, props, make-up, etc.

*If you are proposing a show that requires the acquisition of RIGHTS (i.e. an established play or musical that is not in public domain), it is recommended that you submit early so that the Follies can start looking into rights availability. If you are unsure which company holds the rights to your show, please do not hesitate to ask.

3) LOGISTICS INFORMATION
a) Which month(s) you would you want to see your production go up
b) Preferred Venue (i.e. indoor/outdoor, large stage/small stage, site-specific, etc.)
c) Length of rehearsal process (i.e. how many weeks/months you would require to rehearse)
d) When you would want to hold auditions
e) When you would want to start rehearsals

Once you have submitted your proposal, you will be contacted for an INTERVIEW and PRESENTATION. It is recommended that if you are proposing as a team, your team or partial team is present for the interview and presentation.

Hart House Players’ Annual Play writing Competition

Description: If you’ve got a great idea for a play, Hart House Players would love to hear it! Hart House Players is looking for submissions for their annual Playwriting Competition. Submissions are due Saturday, March 1st.

Play Contest Rules and Prizes:
1) The play must be a minimum one act (running time of approx. 40 mins-1 hour), there is no maximum.
2) The play must be an original work
3) The author must be a current student at U of T

All plays submitted will be evaluated by a panel, and those chosen in the top slots will receive cash prizes. Prize amounts are yet to be determined. Any plays that do not receive prizes may still be eligible for workshop productions by the Players in the 2013-2014 School Year.

Submission Details: Please send submissions to harthouseplayers@gmail.com with “Play Contest Submission” in the subject line. Along with your script, please include the word count, and approximate running time, if you have an estimate. Please include a brief explanation of your artistic vision for the piece. Description: The UC Follies will be hosting a fundraiser for their third production of the 2013-2014 Mainstage Theatre Season:Sweet Charity

Ready for some Fun, Laughs, Good Times? For only $5, come to the historic Brunswick House as it transforms into the sexy Fandango Ballroom of the 1960s! There will be performances from the cast, 50/50 raffles, door prizes, ticket sales, dancing and a live band!

Advance tickets can be purchased by any cast or crew member for ONLY $5!
