New Faces Present The Importance of Being Earnest

Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece, this comedy of manners, tongue-in-cheek social satire, and high farce sends up Victorian England of the late 1890s.

With its razor-sharp wit, fast-paced dialogue, and absurd mistaken identities, this famous play is considered Wilde’s funniest, and is so well loved that it has never been out of production since its revival in the early 1900s.

VCDS Presents A Ladylike Murder                                                                                      by Joseph Trefler & Aviva Phillip-Muller, directed by Nicole Bazuin

A tale of marriage, sexual morality, and murder most proper…VCDS premiers the original musical ‘A Ladylike Murder’ — a tragicomedy of Victorian proportions. Set in Kingston, Ontario in the 1890s, ‘A Ladylike Murder’ is the story of Elaine — a young woman struggling for autonomy and love in a restrictive society.                                                     With a cast of characters including scheming politicians and gossiping chorus of townsfolk, ‘A Ladylike Murder’ is a darkly funny and sometimes tragic look at the social hypocrisies of 19th century Canada.
